Wanna Go Korea

Privacy policy

Wanna Go Korea (‘the site’) respects your privacy and follows the Korean Personal Information Protection Act and related laws, and the principles of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA). Effective: October 10, 2026

1. What we collect and how

You can use the site without an account. We only handle the following.

  • When you write a review or comment (entered by you): nickname, rating, review or comment text, the place and the time of writing. Your nickname and review or comment may be public.
  • When you contact us: your email address and message
  • Automatically, when you use the site: server logs such as IP address, browser and device information, access time and pages visited, kept by our hosting provider for security and troubleshooting.
  • If we add ads or analytics (from the day they are added): cookies, advertising identifiers, approximate location (country or city level) and how you use pages. See sections 4–6.
  • If we add sign-in (from the day it is added): the name, email address and profile picture provided by the account you sign in with, such as Google.

We do not ask for sensitive information such as national ID numbers, passport numbers or payment details.

2. Why we use it

  • To publish reviews, contact you about checking a review, and verify your identity when you ask for removal
  • To display traveller experiences, manage reviews and comments, and improve the service
  • To answer enquiries and correct information
  • To run the site, keep it secure and prevent abuse (spam and automated posting)
  • To analyse visits and improve the service (if analytics is added)
  • To show ads and measure their performance (if ads are added)

3. Legal basis

  • Reviews and enquiries: your consent (the consent box on the review form, or sending us a message)
  • Server logs and abuse prevention: our legitimate interest in running the site safely
  • Personalised ad and analytics cookies: your consent. Visitors from the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent before these cookies are used.
  • Where the law requires it: compliance with a legal obligation

4. Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. The site uses, or may use, cookies for the following.

  • Essential: cookies needed for site features and security (we do not currently set any).
  • Statistics: Google Analytics cookies (if added)
  • Advertising: cookies from Google AdSense and its ad partners (if added)

Refusing cookies: you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, for example Chrome: Settings › Privacy and security › Third-party cookies; Safari: Settings › Privacy; Edge: Settings › Cookies and site permissions. The main features of the site still work without cookies. Visitors from the EEA, the UK and Switzerland can change their choice at any time in the consent window.

5. Advertising (Google AdSense)

Applies from the day ads are shown

  • The site may show ads through Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this site and other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
  • How Google uses data from partner sites: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
  • To turn off personalised ads, change your settings in Google My Ad Center. You can opt out of other vendors' personalised ads at aboutads.info (US) or youronlinechoices.eu (Europe).
  • You may still see ads after opting out; they will be based on things like page content rather than your browsing history.

6. Visitor statistics (Google Analytics)

Applies from the day it is added

  • The site may use Google Analytics to learn which pages are used most. Information such as pages visited, time spent, device and browser type, and approximate location is sent to Google.
  • We do not use this information to identify individuals, and statistics are kept for 14 months.
  • To opt out, you can install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Deletion: information is deleted promptly once its retention period ends or its purpose is fulfilled. Electronic files are deleted so they cannot be recovered; where the law requires us to keep something, it is stored separately for that period only.

8. Sharing with third parties

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties except:

  • with your prior consent
  • where the law requires it, or when authorities request it through procedures set by law

If we use ad or analytics tools, cookie data is sent to Google, which may count as ‘sharing’ personal information for targeted advertising under California law. If you do not want this, turn off personalised ads as described in section 5 or contact us below.

9. Service providers and international transfers

  • We may use outside providers for server and database hosting. Once chosen, we will list the provider, the work entrusted to it and the server location in this policy.
  • When you follow an affiliate link, the seller may record through cookies that you came from this site; the seller's policy applies to that.
  • If we use Google AdSense or Google Analytics, information may be transferred to and processed on servers of Google LLC (USA). The information transferred is cookies, advertising identifiers and usage records, at the time you use the site.
  • Where information of visitors from the EEA or the UK is transferred abroad, we use providers with safeguards recognised by those laws, such as standard contractual clauses.

10. Your rights

You can at any time:

  • ask to see, correct or delete your personal information, or to stop its processing
  • withdraw consent (this does not affect processing carried out before you withdrew)
  • EEA and UK visitors: restrict processing, object, request data portability, and complain to a supervisory authority
  • California residents: know what we have collected, request deletion or correction, opt out of sharing for targeted advertising, and not be discriminated against for using these rights

Contact us below from the email you used for your review. After verifying your identity we will act promptly (and within the period set by law) and tell you the result. You may also act through an agent, with proof that they are authorised.

11. Children

The site is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 14 (or the age set by each European country's law, or under 13 in the US). If we learn that we have, we delete it promptly.
